BLACK STAR
ACADEMY

Empower youth to achieve their full potential
through the performing arts
The Vision:
A Black Star Academy facility would be a home to the Black Star Drum Line, the Milwaukee Bucks Jr. Drum Line and multiple performing arts programs. The facility would be a multi-use facility designed for music and arts education programs and rehearsal space for the drum lines, large performance groups and ensembles. BSA is currently looking at the Town of Verona site as a potential site for this facility. The BSA facility would allow the Academy to expand the D.R.U. M. Program to its original capacity of 80-100 students while located at local Boys and Girls Club in 2013. The goal would then be to grow the program to include 100-200 students in the next year (2018). The facility would also be available to outside arts organizations to access for events, rehearsals, education programs, workshops and clinics. The facility would be open to all of the Madison and surrounding areas but would primarily focus on serving the immediate Verona, Madison west side area Schools (MMSD) and the Middleton School District to start.
Our goal is to have a facility and have over 100 youth enrolled in the Academy program by Summer of 2017 and have our first Black Star Academy Summer Camp at our new facility.
